For the 2022 opening of Johann Bäckerei in Schöneberg, Berlin, Germany, I created two variations of a whimsical, Medieval-inspired lion logo and wordmark. The logo includes a brezel, which is a universal symbol of the mastercraft of baking in Germany, and traditionally hangs outside of many bakeries. Below are examples of the usage of the logo – including gold-painted window embellishment by Studio Elm – as well as iterations of the logo ideas that were considered.
